Simply the best

When it comes to successfully closing a property transaction, few can compete with Kobie Potgieter, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Independent Properties in Nelson Mandela Bay. Despite what some may say were tough trading conditions for the property market during 2011, for Potgieter it was business as usual.

Following the successful RE/MAX national convention, where she was ranked as the top Broker/Owner Individual of the Year by registered commission, as well as the Broker/Owner of the Year in a Multi Office situated in a Non- Metro area, Potgieter placed third in the Top 10 Individuals for International Residential agents at the 2012 RE/MAX International Convention held in Las Vegas on 7 March. She competed with over 90 000 international agents from as many as 85 countries for the award.

Although Potgieter never planned on becoming an estate agent and started her career as a Grade 2 teacher initially, she has now become a renowned property professional who is a force to be reckoned with on both a national and international level.

Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, says: "We are really proud of the quality of Broker/Owners and agents we have within our organisation. Many of property professionals that fall under the RE/MAX umbrella have achieved some amazing things both nationally and on an international scale. RE/MAX of Southern Africa has proven that we have some of the top real estate professionals in the industry and that we can compete with the best in the world and win."

Celebrating her success in Las Vegas, Potgieter attributes her achievements to her faith, hard work, committed agents and staff, and her wonderfully supportive family. When asked what inspires her to succeed, Potgieter says: "Through serving my clients and the industry I succeed. It brings joy to me when I can play an integral role in guiding and assisting my clients when it comes to life-changing decisions in purchasing and selling property, as this is for most of us the single biggest transaction we may ever make in our lives."

As a proud ambassador of her hometown Port Elizabeth, she notes that the exposure gained on a national and international platform will elevate the region to levels that will attract potential investors as it is now seen as a property hot spot with ample opportunities and activity.

Giving advice to other agents that are starting out in the industry, Potgieter says that it is all about hard work, perseverance and gaining knowledge through continuous training. "These are the foundation that is essential for success in this very competitive industry. Choosing a reputable company that can assist in reaching goals and providing an environment that is conducive to high performance, will also give new agents the edge to break into this market," says Potgieter. "Life is about balance and this can only be obtained by being disciplined in all spheres. By constructive planning and prioritising, agents can have a successful business and still lead a fulfilling life with family and friends," she concludes.Tweet this!
